We are located  in Albemarle County, Virginia 23 miles south of Charlottesville. At Caromont we  believe in the core values of  sustainable farming -  commitment to our animals, and a strong connection to place.

Gail Hobbs Page is the owner and  cheese maker at Caromont Farm. Her cheeses enjoy a  local as well as a regional following, and are sold at Specialty Cheese Shops, Farmers Markets, and Fine Restaurants  throughout the Southeast. Caromont  holds true to  the  basic farmstead principles of cheese making– we source no outside milk, use no frozen curd, and all cheeses are hand ladled. We continually strive to develop the  terroir of Esmont  in our  cheeses through improving our soil fertility while practicing  holistic herd  practices. Great cheese comes only from great milk and we pledge to stay true to this very simple yet complex fact. Our cheeses follow a seasonal path– with fresh cheeses sold though December and aged cheeses distributed all year long. Before cheese making and farming, Gail enjoyed a 26 year culinary career in some of America’s finest kitchens such as Magnolia Grill, The Fearrington House, Stove, and Todd Jurich’s Bistro. In Charlottesville, Gail was Chef de Cuisine at Hamiltons at First and Main, The Mark Addy, and Feast! She is a passionate advocate of  local flavor and the preservation of traditional food culture.
